Real Ales, Home Cooked Food & Atmosphere....
The Goodmanham Arms is a Free House. We are a traditional country pub in East Yorkshire serving a wide selection of real ales including Theakston's ales. We also serve a rotating selection of guest beers for the conoisseur.
Although the Theakston's name is synonymous with a range of classic and seasonal ales, the Old Peculiar label is perhaps the most iconic of all. Robert Theakson first took a lease on The Black Bull Inn and Brewhouse in 1827.
Robert's son Thomas took over the family business in 1875 and built a new brewery which remains in use to this day. 1919 saw the acquisition of the Lightfoot Brewery. It is rumoured that Theakstons saw this move as a creative means of eliminating too successful cricket opposition!
The company was first taken over in 1984 by Mathhew Brown with a further ownership change to Scottish & Newcastle in 1987. However, Theakston brothers, Nick, Simon Tim and Edward regained control in 2003.
